Programs

Brighter Tomorrows is honored to offer unique programming and essential support for families dealing with a childhood cancer diagnosis.

Monthly Family Gatherings

Families of children who are newly diagnosed, are in various stages of treatment or those of cancer survivors are invited to attend our monthly family gatherings. On the first Tuesday of every month, families gather to share a meal together. After the meal, parents have time to talk and share with one another, while the patient and their siblings get to spend time just being kids. These meetings provide a critical role of bringing patients, parents and siblings together as they navigate this new world, sharing challenges and concerns for the road ahead, but also celebrate successes and hurdles navigated.

Please note that our family gatherings have changed due to COVID-19. Our current monthly gatherings are now virtual via Zoom. Meals are delivered to families in Rochester. While we miss being able to physically be together, the virtual options have made it possible to reach beyond the city limits and connect with even more families.

Family Activities

Outside of our monthly gatherings, Brighter Tomorrows (sometimes with partner organizations) is excited to offer a variety of activities to our families to provide a distraction from the daily life with cancer.

Examples of past activities are bowling nights, a Christmas-themed trolley ride complete with hot chocolate, a bonfire and visit from Santa Claus, a virtual, healthy-cooking class, or a socially-distant, drive-in movie. Keep an eye on your inbox, the calendar on this website or our Facebook page for upcoming events.

Educational Activities

Brighter Tomorrows is proud to partner with experts in the field of pediatric cancer, support, education and outreach as well as other support groups to offer regular (virtual) educational and Q&A sessions on living with a childhood cancer diagnosis. These sessions are free to attend for all Brighter Tomorrows families.

Family Care Kits

Brighter Tomorrows is privileged to provide newly diagnosed families with a Family Care Kit.  A soft-side cooler (designed to transport medications that need to be kept cool) is given to each family to help them as they begin their journey of dealing with a childhood cancer diagnosis.  Inside, the family will find items essential to this journey for hospital stays and beyond.

Tomorrow’s Chapter

Even though it is our hope that all of our children go on to live normal lives, sadly some do not.  In an effort to serve the needs of families grieving the loss of their child to childhood cancer, Brighter Tomorrows respectively offers our newest program entitled Tomorrow’s Chapter ~ Bereavement Support for the Days to Come.

If you are grieving the the loss of a child to childhood cancer, please contact us.

Your support provides us with a great deal of comfort and it’s wonderful that there are people like you out there to help families that are going through such difficult times.
